Miss Maybell

Miss Maybell’s bluesy vocals pull you into a time warp of a listening experience, invoking with innate feeling those of Ethel Waters and “Empress of the Blues” Bessie Smith. Together with her partner Charlie Judkins - masterful on stride piano - they conjure up, re-animate, and invigorate with tunes both known and undiscovered from the ragtime era. Banjo and washboard strumming not excluded!

Robert Lighthouse

At 18, Robert Lighthouse left his cool, calm and collected Sweden for the States, intent on soaking up Mississippi Delta Blues in the known meccas of New Orleans and Chicago, and anywhere blues was embraced and nurtured. Having played in Belgium and Holland touring with the Charlie Sayles Band, Lighthouse landed in Washington, D.C in the late ‘80s and enjoyed a steady gig of his own at D.C.’s City Blues Cafe. Twice appearing at the Blues Foundation IBC - with his band and as a solo- his two releases, Drive-Thru Love and Deep Down in the Mud have both met with acclaim throughout the U.S., Europe and Australia.

A sampler of praises sung include Blues & Rhythm Magazine- “…supremely talented bluesman… mercurial talents”; Blues Review -”…consummate skill”; and Baltimore Blues Society - “dextrous guitar and awesome harp tone”.

Come experience why Hohner says - “…plays delta blues like the great masters.”
