This is a triumvirate raised and steeped in the South Side blues landscape: Freddie Dixon, son of Willie, and rightful bearer of that distinguishing torch; John Watkins, guitarist for Willie Dixon’s Chicago Blues All-Stars, a gig he landed in his 20s and maintained for seven years; Maurice John Vaughn, an early Soul and R&B musician who made an eventual full embrace of Blues in 1979. Some of their output can be experienced on “3by3,” their 2020 2-disc CD. Here’s the chance to hear live, the unadulterated gospel of Chicago Blues.
